and the story behind the story 

For years, Jän had nagging questions about the “wise men,” or “magi,” of the Gospel of Matthew. These questions would resurface every Christmas season: How did the Magi know where to find Jesus? What was their country of origin? And, what did they mean by, “…we saw His star”?

After years of research, Jän accumulated stacks of notes, hundreds of dates, astrological charts, facts, and stories of historical figures — hundreds of fixed data points that beckoned to be connected by a compelling story.

That’s when Ehron, Jän’s son, was finishing college with a creative writing degree. With Ehron’s natural love of history and talent in writing, he collaborated with his father on this endeavor to solve the mystery of the magi. What developed from that original concept went beyond what either one could have ever imagined — an epistolary novel about father and son magi on a mysterious quest that would lead them to a second father and son — Joseph and Jesus.
